FUOCO SACRO - SACRED FIRE

ANGELA KOSTA INTERVIEWS JOURNALIST AND WRITER CLELIA MOSCARIELLO 

 

 1. Kosta: HELLO CLELIA! TELL US ABOUT HER... WHAT WAS YOUR LITERARY AND ARTISTIC PATH?

 

    Moscariello: Hi Angela, I graduated in communication, after which, I undertook the so-called "apprenticeship" to become a freelance journalist, so, I wrote for about three consecutive years at a newspaper. At the same time I have also dedicated myself to creative writing, in the meantime, my six syllogies of poems have been published, one after the other, since 2010: "L'ultima notte da falena" for Davide Zedda Editore, "Questa primavera" for Irda Edizioni, "Battiti" for le Mezzelane publishing house, finally, the latest collections of poems and short stories: "Io non amo le rose", "Doesn't give a damn about the moon tonight" and "Sacred Fire" were published by PAV Edizioni - Italy.

 

 2. Kosta: WHAT IS THE MAIN MESSAGE YOU WANT TO COMMUNICATE THROUGH YOUR WRITING?

 

  Moscariello: I really like the idea of "sharing": for me this has always been a very important aspect of my "acting" with others, which, moreover, has pushed me towards the artistic profession of "writing".

In any case, I have always felt that I have to "communicate" and I have always felt comfortable with it. 

To this day, the need to "communicate" for me is the driving principle that acts as a cornerstone of my creative activity. 

 

Specifically, I would like to convey above all a message of "hope": there are many facets of life that are discussed little, still too little, because much of today's communication and information, unfortunately, continues to be, sadly and trivially, impregnated with rhetoric, at least in my opinion.

It is necessary to re-teach people, who, nowadays, have probably unlearned to do so, to think with their own heads and to reason independently from the now massified society, managing to emancipate themselves from it and detach themselves from it when necessary, to believe in their own possibilities as "wonderful human beings" and not, instead, as "humanoids", to know how to recognize their limits but to understand, At the same time, even when some limits are wrongly and subtly induced by the models in which we blindly and almost automatically believe, now transmitted at a social level and imposed by the mass media.

 

 3. Kosta: WHAT HAS BEEN THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE IN YOUR JOURNALISTIC OR LITERARY CAREER AND HOW DID YOU OVERCOME IT?

 

   Mosciarello: There have been several challenges in this area, however, probably the biggest challenge was the one that some time ago created a great disappointment in the field in question, as I realized with great bitterness at a certain point that many of the ideas about creative activity were my idealizations and personal illusory ideas. And this awareness was then followed by a long period of intentional hiatus from the creative and literary sector. After about three years, in which I am still dedicated to other activities accumulating experience in different sectors, despite this, I have decided to resume my path as both a journalist and a writer, in a more conscious and disenchanted way than previous expectations. 

 

 4. Kosta: CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT A SIGNIFICANT EXPERIENCE OR A MOMENT THAT INSPIRED YOU IN YOUR LITERARY CAREER AND AS A PROMOTER?

 

   Mosciarello: Life does nothing but inspire me sincerely. There would be many episodes to tell that have been important sources of inspiration for me. First of all, love and, in any case, feelings, not only those that concern pseudo-sentimental aspects, are the basis of my writings, however, in any case, I also tell of my experience in the nineties, of episodes born of those years, of the relationship with myself, of the need for introspection, of existential needs and crises, of friendships, of the passing of time, in short, the opportunities that can theoretically function as food for thought are really many and, I would add, almost countless.

 

 5. Kosta: HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE HIS WRITING STYLE?

 

   Mosciarello: My style is very contemporary, in the sense that I don't use rhyme, meter and I don't use rhetorical devices much. However, what those who read me and those who have read me tell me is that you feel that my writings come from a female pen, because in them you can hear a lot of the voice of "woman", not only in content but also in form.

 

 6. Kosta: WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS WHEN YOU CREATE AND WRITE?

 

   Moscariello: In the initial moment of the creative process, that is, I refer to what I do when I feel the inspiration to write, I also perceive a sort of "call", that is, I "feel" that I absolutely have to start writing, having said that, at that point, I write down my thoughts, without caring too much about their form, worrying more than anything else about expressing the content that I have "inside".

In the second phase of "creation", on the other hand, I read and reread my texts, even aloud, until, even from a linguistic point of view, the text begins to flow and take on a nonchalant, harmonious, pleasant and musical rhythm, even in reading and in its own linguistic structure.

 

 7. Kosta: IS THERE AN ARTIST OR WRITER THAT YOU PARTICULARLY ADMIRE OR WHO HAS INFLUENCED YOU?

 

 Moscariello: Charles Baudelaire, Paul Verlaine, Arthur Rimbaud, Virginia Woolf, Anaïs Nin, Sylvia Plath.

 

 8. Kosta: DO YOU HAVE ANY FUTURE PROJECTS OR NEW WORKS IN THE PIPELINE THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO TALK ABOUT?

 

   Moscariello: I have recently been appointed Scientific Director of the poetry series of the PAV Edizioni publishing house and I intend to work hard in the coming months so that the genre of poetry becomes a "flagship" of this publisher. 

I started composing, as a songwriter, the lyrics of some songs. 

In addition, I'm also working on a collection of stories united by the common thread of Made in Italy dance music of the nineties.

 

 9. Kosta: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO PURSUE A CAREER IN THE WORLD OF WRITING?

 

    Mosciarello: That, for me, the only way to make one's expectations coincide with the surrounding reality is to "work hard", to study and work, almost tirelessly, to improve more day after day, and therefore to be able, legitimately, one day, to expect the best. Yet, despite this, to continue to want to fly "low" all the time, and, finally, to behave like this, not assuming an attitude of false modesty, but, in my opinion, humility is the only real springboard to be able to take flight without having to fear falling in an absolutely unexpected way and hurting yourself too much.  

 

 10. Kosta: IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH READERS OR THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT?

 

   Moscariello: Just a few days ago my latest collection was published by PAV Editions, entitled: "Sacred Fire." It is a collection of poems and stories that constitutes a real "hymn" and "invitation" to take care of one's spirituality.
